Why don't we know how the pyramids of Egypt were made? Because we haven't
got enough of the little things. A scroll, a piece of papyrus, a carved stone
or tablet, a stele -- anything with the information about their construction,
would solve this ancient mystery, or at least point us in the right direction.
We have the monuments but not the blueprints, not enough of the little things
that must have occurred, and been recorded, before the actual construction.
They are out there somewhere in the ruins of Egypt, or in a place as yet
undiscovered. Perhaps they are in a vault in a dark basement of a museum
somewhere on the planet, greedily stashed away and forgotten. Until they are
found we can only make assumptions.
This is why I keep going back to the little things in the images from Mars.
I feel the close-up images from the little Rover images are vital to the story
of what is and what was on that planet.
My mind is open to all possibilities - anomalies, artifacts, ancient cities,
fossils, tricks of light and shadow. These images are meant to pose questions,
excite the imagination and hopefully add to the reasons for continuing to
explore Mars, our solar system and beyond.
