Here it is. Just a rock formation in the glacier carved mountains that surround the fjord (s) out of Whittier, Alaska.
It's just rocks, folks, just rocks. And you don't see any craters either. This is glacically carved rock. All the right angles that show up in the images are formed by erosion, weathering, cracking, etc., etc..
This part of Alaska was shaped by many types of glaciers. Deep, steep-walled recesses or hollows carved into high into the sides of mountains - horseshose-shapped or semicircular- called cirques are formed by high roundish mountain glaciers. High mountain glaciers also produce beautiful hanging (U shaped) valleys. Glacial ice moving around hard rock mountains carve long steep jagged peaks and ridges known as arêtes. It looks like a combination of glaciers sculpted the area in the photograph. Glaciers also deposit a lot of rock and debris. Different materials erode and weather at different rates, creating the weird and wonderful art of planet Earth.
